Fares & Purchasing Locations

Genfare fareboxes will be removed from all buses and vehicles by June 30, 2026.

     B-Line Smart Cards will replace current paper tickets/passes.
     Paper tickets/passes with the magnetic stripe on the back will no longer function or be accepted.

Fixed Route Fares

**Fares can be paid with a B-Line Smart Card, the Token Transit Mobile App or Cash**

Fixed Route fares effective as of 1/1/2025.
All purchases are final. No change or refunds given by drivers. 

Fare Types

Local Service fare is paid if you're in one city (i.e. Oroville, Chico, Gridley/Biggs, or the Paradise/Magalia area) and your trip will stay in that city.

Regional Service fare is paid if you are going from one city to another. A paid local fare can be UPGRADED to a regional fare by paying the difference. Regular upgrade adds $1.00. Discount upgrade adds $0.50.

Discount fare is applied by demonstrating eligibility. Scroll to the "Discount Fare Eligibility & Information" section below for more information. 

Transfers on B-Line

Transfers are requested from the driver at the time you board a fixed route bus. A transfer can be used multiple times once it is issued to you, but it must be used within one (1) hour for local trips and within two (2) hours for regional trips. Paratransit vehicles are equipped with fareboxes and will accept :

$25 Value Cards will be phased out by June 30, 2026.

3)    Cash Onboard
         Cash is always accepted on board B-Line vehicles or at the payment outlets listed
         below. Exact change required when paying on board.

Pre-Order & Bulk Ticket Purchases

Pre-Ordering Tickets By Mail or Phone:

To order tickets by mail, click here to download the order form.

Mail a completed form with a check for the exact total payment amount and a self-addressed envelope to:

To order tickets by phone, call the BCAG office at (530) 809-4616 Ext. 1 during business hours.
Phone orders are paid for with a debit/credit card at the time of the call and can be mailed out or picked up at 326 Huss Drive, Suite 150, in Chico. 
Mailed or bulk orders are generally completed within 5 business days of receipt by the BCAG office.

Purchasing Bulk Tickets/Passes: 

Bulk pre-orders and sales to community agencies and organizations are available.
These orders require use of the Transit Ticket Order Form.

Purchases via fax are available by faxing forms to the BCAG office at (530) 879-2444.
Please be aware that there may be a delay in processing orders received by fax.

Discount Fare Eligibility & Information

Discount fare is applied by presenting one of the following items to the bus driver at time of boarding.

Youth (Ages 6 - 18) / Seniors (Age 65+) Verification:

  • B-Line Discount Fare ID Card
  • Government Issued ID showing picture and birthdate (Youth or Senior)
  • School Issued ID Card (Youth)
  • Medi-Care Card (Senior)

Veteran’s Based Verification:

  • B-Line Discount Fare ID Card
  • Valid Veteran's ID  

Disability Verification:

  • B-Line Discount Fare ID Card
  • Disabled Status Card/Document from another Transit Agency

Note: Obvious physical impairments do not need verification (i.e., paraplegics, amputees)

B-Line Discount Fare ID Card

The B-Line Discount Fare ID Card is the best way to provide eligibility proof when boarding. A photo is required to create the card. Applications can be accepted in person at the Chico Transit Center and at the BCAG office, at which time a photo of the applicant will be taken. For mailed applications, a clear head-shot photo must be sent at the same time.

There is a $3.00 fee for the card and it must be renewed every five (5) years.

*NOTE: Discount fares only apply to fixed route services. There are no discounts available for paratransit services.

B-Line DOES NOT offer any direct discount pass or fare programs other than the discounted fares listed above.
