On Demand Service for Paradise & Magalia

B-Line FLEX and Consolidation of Route 41 Began on May 26th!

B-Line FLEX is a new kind of transit service for residents of Paradise and Magalia. Instead of fixed stops and schedules, FLEX comes to you. Request a ride from your location within the FLEX zone and a B-Line vehicle will pick you up at the curb and take you anywhere within the FLEX service area - for just $2!

How To Ride: Download the free Rides on Demand app on your phone. Enter your pickup location and destination and request your ride. No other pre-registration is required. It's that simple.

Service Area: B-Line FLEX serves Paradise and Magalia. 

Hours: Monday through Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 6:20 p.m. Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. No Sunday service.

Fare: $2 per trip for everyone, including seniors and people with disabilities. Pay through the Rides on Demand app or the Token Transit app.

Monthly pass: $80, valid on B-Line FLEX and all B-Line fixed route buses. Purchase through the Token Transit app.

Note: Smart cards cannot be used on B-Line FLEX.

Connecting to Route 41:

B-Line FLEX connects to Rt. 41 at the Paradise Transit Center and at Lakeridge Circle, giving you access to service between Paradise, Magalia, and Chico. When you board or get picked up, let the driver know if you need to make a connection and they will radio ahead to coordinate as appropriate.

From FLEX to Rt. 41: 

An activated FLEX pass when you board your FLEX ride covers continuing your trip on Rt. 41 at no extra charge within 90 minutes. Just tap the same activated FLEX pass from the start of your trip onto the Token Transit validator when you board the Rt. 41 vehicle. 

From Rt. 41 to FLEX:

The FLEX connection is the same in reverse. If you are coming from Rt. 41, set up your FLEX pass first. Then activate that FLEX pass in Token Transit when you board Rt. 41 at the start of your trip. Tap your activated FLEX pass on Token Transit to board that bus and it covers your FLEX trip at no additional cost within 90 minutes. You can set up your continuing FLEX trip before you board Rt. 41 or at the time you get off, as long as it is within 90 minutes of when you first tap on to Rt. 41. 

 Note: A temporary stop for Route 41 is in place at Lakeridge Circle during construction.

What to know before you ride:

  • Youth passengers: FLEX service is available for youth up to 18 years of age. There is no discounted FLEX fare for youth. If youth passengers are able to ride B-Line fixed route service independently with no issues, they are welcome to utilize B-Line FLEX. 
  • FLEX is a curb-to-curb service where vehicles hold up to eight passengers. Rides may be shared.
  • FLEX vehicles have bike racks.
  • Same rules about what you can bring on board, rider rules of conduct, etc., apply as on B-Line fixed route buses.
